“In the mid-18th century, Lawrence Owen opened a small inn near the present Rockville Pike. The place, known as Owen's Ordinary, took on greater prominence when, on April 14, 1755, Major General Edward Braddock stopped there on a start of a mission from George Town (now Washington, D.C.) to press British claims of the western frontier.”

While Owen’s Ordinary is named after this historic inn, it is indeed anything but ordinary. With a state-of-the-art beer program and service to match, a menu composed of modern American favorites and a steam-punk–inspired decor, Owen’s Ordinary stands out from the crowd.

The beer program is curated by Greg Engert, the mind behind the award-winning beer bars ChurchKey, Bluejacket, and The Grand Delancey, with a deeply diverse draft and bottle list, 50 rotating taps and 200+ bottles – including upwards of 75 Maryland beers, many of which have never before been available at a restaurant or bar.

Executive Chef Jonathan Collins creates a menu of classic American staples updated with artisanal ingredients sourced from regional farmers and purveyors. Whether it’s lunch, brunch, dinner, or a couple of beers outside in our beer garden, Owen’s Ordinary is your go-to neighborhood place. Perfectly suited for an easy weeknight family gathering, a special occasion celebration, or just an unpretentious spot to convene with good friends over rare beers and comforting food, the atmosphere at Owen’s is both lively and warm. We look forward to having you in!
